SIR NICHOLAS O'CONOR. DEAD.

LONDON, March 20. The death is announced of Sir Nicholas Roderick O'Conor, British Ambassador at Constantinople, in his 65th year.

[Sir Nicholas O'Conor, who has been His Majesty's Ambassador at Constantinople for the past ten years, w a s from 1595 to IS9S Ambassador at St. Petersburg, and was one of the best known of British diplomats. Born in Ireland and educated at Stonyhurst, he entered the Diplomatic Service in 1866; was attache to the British Embassy at Berlin from 1567-90; secretary successively at the Hague, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris (1877-84); Secretary of Legation at Pekin (18S3-S5); Secretary and Charge d'Affaires at Pekin (ISS4-S6); Political Agent and Consul-General in Bulgaria (ISS6-92) ; Minister at Pekin 1892-95.]
