The Waiteraata Ladies' Swimming- Club purpose holding a carnival in the Albertstreet Baths on Thursday, the 26th iust. It is understood that admittance on this occasion will not bs restricted to the gentler sex. The extra gallery seating accommodation provided by the City Council in the Albert-street Baths has relived consider, ably the pressure by crowding caused by the absence of sufficient seating. At the Waitetnata Club's carnival last week, M. E. Champion, for the third time this season, lowered a New Zealand record, this latest feat being the reduction of W. McMillens time of 2Sm. 17 l-ss. for the mile. Champion's official time was 27m. 13 2-55., Irn. 3 4-ss. under the previous record, and even thus substantial reduction v.-as increased by a private "observer by 12 2-5 seconds. F. J. Kernott. who finished second in 28m. 435.. was -well v. ithin the JCew Zealand standard time of 2'Jni.
