BANKRUPTCY.

James Drake, a storekeeper of Auckland, has filed a petition in bankruptcy, j lie estimates hia liabilities at £510 and asaets at £ l'J3. lie states that -in 1905 he was persuaded to purchase a wine and | spirit business, and took in two partners who had no cash. The venture proved most disastrous as neither he nor his partners understood the business. After six months he bought out one of the j partners for £ 150. The other partner died in December. 1906. Bankrupt afterwards got rid of the business, and when all obligations had been met he came out with .£221. Subsequently he set up in business as a gum buyer and storekeeper at Snell's Beach. Everything went well! until July. 1907, when he was injured ' by a fall from a horse, the effects of' which he still retained. Having been ; threatened by some creditors with legal proceedings he. was obliged to file. The first meeting of creditors will be hold at the Official Assignee's office on Thursday I next. Thcodor Endletsberger. a medical practitioner, of Matamata, has been adjudicated a bankrupt upon a creditor's petition. A meeting of creditors will bo held at Hamilton on Thursday next.
