Death Sentence on Orchard. NEW YORK, March 19. The trial of Harry Orchard, one of the members of the Western Miners' Federation of America, on a charge of i being concerned iv the murder of Uover- | nor Steunenberg. of Idaho, was eonclud- i rd at Boise yesterday, prisoner being j found guilty and sentenced to death. I The Court, however, expressed the ! conviction that Orchard's allegations as i <o the conspiracy among the officers of i the Western Federation of Miners to assassinate Governor Steunenberg were ' the exact truth, and therefore recom- j mended that the sentence be commuted lo imprisonment for life. [Orchard confessed to having murdered Mr. Steunenberg at the instigation of the j Miners' Federation Executive, naming \ Pettibone. Morgan, and Haywood as the most active participants in the plot. The Governor was shot while walking towards his house. Othrr crimes, in which the Federation was involved, were freely admitted by Orchard, wlio professed to have repented of his past misdeeds.]
