FIRST NEW ZE-tliAlO-OWHErjfl TURRET SHIP. ' The first New Zealand-twned decked steamer, the Union new cargo steamer Koromiko, arrived M Wellington on Sunday—her first appear* ance in New Zealand waters. She brought a cargo of superphosphates fronl Liverpool to Fremantle, and after loading timber in Western Australia F°* ceoded via Hobart to Wellington-. The Koromiko, after being launched a* Sunderland by Messrs. W. Doxford and Sons, proceeded to Liverpool for loading, ruling from there on December - 13th. She put into Capetown, leaking, on January 13th. An examination, revealed a leakage in. the starboard how, ]ns« above the water-line. A week was oc cupied in re-riyetting one of the plates, and the voyage was resumed, Fremantle being reached on February Ist. On completion of discharge at Fremantle we vessel loaded jarrah timber at Bnnhnry and Flinders Bay for the Millar's Wetf Australian Hardwood Company. «« cargo of jarrah comprises approximately! 400.000 feet for Wellington. 520,000 fee* for Lyttelton, and 430,000 feet for DunCaptain C. Clift, who has been in tM Union Company's service for several years, is in command of the Koromiko, 'and he has with him the following officers:—Chief. Mr. F. R. Gamble (late ol the Essex) ; second.
