WAIHI NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Monday. Dr. Valintine. Inspector-General of Hospitals, paid a visit to the Waihi Hospital this afternoon, and expressed himself as being delighted with the hospital and the work beiug done. He fully endorsed Dr. Robertson's application for a new operating table, and made certain suggestions as to improvement in the septic tank and general drainage system. In the Waihi v. Waikino tennis match, the former proved victorious by 70 games to 47. The shooting competition for Lieut. Daw- , son prize took place on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in Corpl. Roycroft registering the highest number of points (174)- the { three next being Corpl. Carter (161) Sergt. . Laing (144), and Bugler Pennell (142). At the Magistrate's Court to-day T. Roskrige sued M. White for the recovery of . £1 17/6, alleged to be due for treatment of a sore leg. Defendant denied liability, and Mr. Jackson, who appeared on her behalf, considered that, plaintiff being an unregistered man. could not recover professional fees. The bench agreed, and nonsuited plaintiff with costs. The Rev. Mr. Woolloxall. being desirous of taking classical music for Sunday nights. in order to try and induce people to attend church service, put a proposal before his congregation last night, but it was vetoed..
