. A meeting- of -creditors in the estate" ■of John James Dowdle, storekeeper, of , 'Waihi, -was Held before the Official Asieigiiee, Mr. E. Gerard, yesterday- after■jmjozl. Mr. J. It Lundon represented the /iankrupt, the creditors appearing being . Messrs. A. J. Bhtrican (claim £265). J. ■Buchanan {£4 4/), J. W. Gavin (£34), ■and A. Tyex (£7 10/). Another"of the creditors, Herbert Noakesj "of Waikiuo, claimed £-350. Bankrupt, on oath, stated that his liabilities "were £974 19/; stock £61, book .debts £100; showing a defieiencv of £SJS 19/, -which he could not account . for except for losses in -household expenses, being forced to sell goods- almost at cost price, as bought at Waihi, sickness in the family, etc. - . ~~ - ~ Ihe Assignee: Have you no other reason for the deficiency beyond the too £ "debts?""" • -■' -~ — Debtor: Cmly that statement. ' Bankrupt also stated fhat during the 3S Tionths i.c Jbad been in!the business he believed, he had .sold.. about £200' 'worth of goods per month."- He had ■bought at Waihi about three parts of the goods he had sold. - After discussion among—the She Assignee remarked that the bankrupt had evidently failed to keep proper books Mmselfj and that he had only accounted for £700 of his assets, »s he should have-accounted for £1200. The meeting finally decided to request ihe Assignee to submit the matter to the Crown Solicitor, -with a vievr to obtain-, ing a certificate for prosecution under the Bankruptcy Act. ..
