Nash (P.), 31, v. Philpotts (G.), 16. The most keenly interesting game was seen in the meeting of Ponsonbv and Mt. Eden on rinks 1 and 2. On* No. 1 rink, a point only separated the two scores at the 15th head, Ponsonby being 14 to Mt. Eden 13. The game from this stage progressed all in favour of Mt. Eden, their opponents being unable to add anything to their score, while the Mountain team put on 11 points. On No. 2 rink the tables were reversed, Langsford's team taking the lead from the fifth head, and increasing it throughout to a 15-point win, the aggregates giving Ponsonby a nine-point win. Chief interest of the round was centred in the Auckland-Hastings game. The Hastings suffering their first defeat during the tournament, on the No. 5 rink. Auckland 'opened the scoring, laying three on the first head. The visitors, however, pulled up in the nest two, and the score at the fourth stood four all. Fortune fluctuated during the next eight heads, but at the thirteenth the score stood 16 all; and two heads later the scores were still even, 18 all. From this point the local men drew aliead until the 20th head, when a good lay of two brought Hastings to within _• point, but the final head gave Auckland 5 points, making their victory a. 6-point one. On rink 6 the local men drew a-way after the 3rd head from their opponents the score at the 13th standing at 16—8. The visitors made a big uphill fight to get on terms, and at the '19th head were within two points of the leaders. Fortune, however, was against them, the Aucklanders finally winning by 3 points —giving a veil merited win of 9 points on the two rinks. A close game also resulted between Pahiatua and Patea, the score standing even on bne rink at the concluding head, the winning point being gained by Hawkins' team, after an exciting finish. The Patea men laid 3 on the final head, which brought them to within a point of the winners. THE AGGREGATES. New Plymouth, 40, beat Petone, 32. Thorndon, 39, beat Stratford, 30. Smith (G) 22. The game between Waverley and Greenmeadows was the most exciting of the round. On the first rink eaca scored 21, and on the second rink the score was 20 all up to the last head, when Smith, with a beautiful shot added two to Greenmeadov- and secure! the victory.
