BADLY BEATEN BY CUMBERLAND. 21 POINTS TO 9. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 12.3S a.m.) LONDON, January 9. The New Zealand team of professional footballers to-day met and were defeated by a team representing Cumberland. Cumberland scored three goals and five tries and the New Zealanders three goals and one try. I Cumberland pressed the visitors throughout the first half of the game, and at half-time had scored fifteen points to nil. In the second spell, however, the All Blacks made a fine recovery, and had the better of the play. They could only score nine points, however, and Cumberland, adding six, won by 21 points to 9. On Saturday the New Zealanders play England. They r have now played 27 matches, winning 15, losing 10, and drawing 2.
