It is reported that active measures will be taken immediately to bore for coal in the vicinity of Pukete, where a satisfactory outcrop has been located. A good seam of lignite has been discovered close by on the bank of the Waipa river. Options hare been secured over a number of properties in the neighbourhood. A start was made yesterday in laying a tramway to the coal deposits on Mr. Runciman's property at Te Akatea, about four and a-quarter mil os from Ngaruawahia, in a direct line.
