Some of the remarks which appear in English papers concerning Australian Horses are amusing. The following, from the usually reliable pan of Mr. John Corlett is a case in point: "Siuce the defeat of Fabric at Doncaster he has gained many friends for the Cesarewitch rather than lost them, wbich is strange. We are told by the betting correspondent of a. eonteninorarv that, when in Australia, he ran several tunes, the property of different owners, without once winning, and that he was a bad horse there. That sets us thinkin" Why send a bad horse six or eight thousand 'miles to run in England? The expense is very groat, and it would not be incurred for nothing. Fabric conW not nave been a bad horse in Australia, no matter how he may have ran, or he would not have been sent here; Last year in, this country he showed wretched form: but with the money well on him at Newcastle, there wns not much mistake about the in wUfcb He wou. He was, however, rnniin" in bad company, arid carrying the ws°hfof a bad horee. Still, winning one race out of 20 Is not a good average." Fabric

certainly- did not win a Melbourne Cup, but he went very near- to. .doing so, for it \w.as. on his run in B.lue Spec's cup that Wootijen bought "him at a high price Prior to this' Fabric won an important handicap in Western Australia, and after Wootten bought him he carried 8.0, and badly beat the opposition in Tattersall's Cup,-one of the principal long distance races in New South Wales: ' ■ ' *
