LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION.
The annual meeting of the Northcote arid ] Birkenhead branch of the Liberal and La-1 bour Federation was held last evening in the Foresters' Hall at Birkenhead. Mr H. W. Wilding presided, and there was a good attendance of members. The chairman reported that Sir Joseph Ward would be in Auckland at the close of the session, and it was his Intention to visit the Waitemata electorate, and give an address at Devonport. It was decided to hold a social on November 14th in Tarry's Hall at Northcote, when the general secretary would be present to lay some matters of importance before the members. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President: Mr A. Keyes (Mayor of Birkenhead); vice-presidents: Messrs Thos. Horton, W. Wallace, and A. Bruce; secretary: Mr Jas. Stewart (re-e'ected); treasurer: Mr W. Wallace; committee: Messrs H. W. Wilding, J. McCarthy, E. Swindall, W. Meredith, J. Marshall, F. Pugh, W. Sampson, aud 15. Fitzgerald. A vote of thanks to the retiring officers was passed by acclamation.
