Public Notice is hereby given that at the Ordinary Meeting of the Auckland City Council, to be held In the Council Chamber, Coburg-st., Auckland, on THURSDAY, the 12th day of September, 1007, at 6.30 o'clock p.m., a Resolution will be submitted for the Confirmation of the following Special Order, made at a Special Meeting of the said Council, on the Bth day of August, 1907, viz.:— That the Auckland City Council aoth hereby, by Special ijesblutioiij intended to operate,;.9B,. a . Special Order,-make the following By-laws; to be known as By-laws No. 7, via: AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL. BY-LAWS NO. 7. By-laws of the Auckland =Citj Council, made In pursuance; of, the. :paw£ce and provisions contained In "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900," and its amendments, and in pursuance of all and every other powers contained in any other Act, enabling the said Council, in that behalf. The Auckland City Council doth hereby, by Special Order, ordain as follows:— 1. These By-laws shall be read with and as extending and amending By-laws No. 1 of the City of Auckland, made on the 7th day of January, 1904, hereinafter referred to as "the said By-laws"), and words herein used shall have the same meaning, and be Interpreted In the same way as the same words when used in the said By-laws. 2. Section 379 of the said By-laws Is hereby amended by the addition of the following proviso to sub-section (3) there rf, namelyProvided ttiat in the case of tramears and other vehicles propelled by motor or other mehcanlcal power, the license sliall If required by the proposed llcersee specify such additional number of passengers to be cajried in such vehicle as in the opinion of the City Engineer euch vehicle can conveniently carry, and the provisions of subsection (c) of Section 393 and subsection (b) of Section 401 of these By-laws shal! not apply to such vehicle so long as it is not carrying more than the number of passengers specified In the license therefor. 3. Sub-section (f) of Section 399 of the said By-laws is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof the following is enacted namely— (f) When any passenger Is entering or leaving' such vehicle negligently, or wilfully start or cause such vehie'e to be started before such passenger is seated in or upon such vehicle, unless such vehicle is a tramcar or one propelled by motor or other mechanical power, and is licensed to carry more passengers than the seating provided therein will accommodate, aud there is no seat then available therein for such incoming passenger; or has alighted from the same, as the case may be. A copy of the proposed By-laws Is deposited in the Office of the Town Clerk, Coburg-street, Auckland, and is open to the Inspection of the public (luring office hours until the said 12th day of September 19-07.
