SUICIDE BY A YOUTH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MASTERTON, Thursday. A youth named John Pond, 17 years of age, -was found hanging from a rafter in a loft above the shop he was employed in about five o'clock this afternoon. No reason is assigned for the deed. ALLEGED THEFT OF DRAPERY. DUNEDIN, Thursday. William Patrick Harrington, employed as a salesman at Mutual Stores Drapery Company, was committed for trial today on a charge of the theft of goods, valued at f 100. Accused, -who is about 26 years of age, was admitted to bail, in his own recognisance of £150, and two sureties of £75 each. RIFLE MEETING ABANDONED. MASTERTON, this day. The decision of the Defence Department condemning the Opaki Rifle Range has caused the projected rifle meeting this month to be abandoned as another range cannot be obtained. The department has refused to allow even a ons« day meeting to be held.
