Mr. Foster, second officer of the Takapuna, who. httsMreen ashore on sick leave, rejoined his ship yesterday. Mr. Hill, who has been relieving him, has now transferred to the Wairuna. Captain McLean, of the Xavua, is at present in command of the Tarawera, and has the following officers with him: Chief, Mr. &.'- T. Norton; second, Mr. Reed; third, Mr. Morrison; chief engineer, Mr. J. Cannon; purser, Mr. W. Ewen; chief Mr. A. Pollock. To the many friends of Mr J. W. Tibbs, headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, the news of his sad bereavement, in the death of his wife will come as a great shock. Mrs Tibbs passed away at her residence in Ponspnby yesterday after a long illness. She was a lady who was much esteemed by a large circle of friends, and much sympathy is felt with Mr Tibbs and family. The Rev. F. Sinclair, M.A., who is to conduct the services at the Unitarian Church on Sunday next, is a young Aucklander. After a successful university career, Mr Sinclair proceeded to England, to Manchester College, Oxford, in preparation for the Unitarian ministry. He has just been appointed to a church in Melbourne, and is now visiting his friends before taking up his duties.
