MINE MANAGER'S DEATH.
(By Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. ' General regret was expressed at Thames at tlie death this morning of Mr Thos. Radf ord, the well-known mine manager, at the age of 74 He was born in Devon, and came to the colonies in 1564, arriving in New Zealand eight years later. He was underground foreman in the famous Caledonian Mine, and manager of the Piako, Queen of Beauty, Alburnia, Moanataiari, and New Whau mines. He also took an active interest in municipal afijairs, was four times Mayor of Thames, a member of the Harbour Board, High School Board, Charitable t&id Board, and other local bodies. He leaves a grown up family of three sons anA foup-ilaughters.
