HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The third performance of "Carmen" by Mr Geo. Musgrove's Royal Grand Opera Co. was given at His Majesty's Theatre last night. The piece was admirably presented, and the leading artists were enthusiastically received. "Tannhauser," which is probably the favourite opera of the series, will be staged tonight for the first time this season. "Faust" will be repeated on Saturday night. MARIE TTATJ, FAREWELL. iMiss Marie Hall's recitals were concluded last night, and many regrets were expressed amongst the large audience assembled in the Choral Hall that such fine expositions of violin and piano playihg could not be more frequently enjoyed. The recitals should give a great imI petus to musical students, and the susj tamed interest manifested by the pub- ; lie throughout the series of concerts ; augurs well for the future. The feature of last night's recital was the famous '•-bLreutzer Sonata" (Beethoven) played by Misa Marie Hall and Miss Lonie Basche. It was given in its entirety, and ■ was indeed a notable performance. The executants entered upon their exacting task with the utmost confidence, and the result proved highly satisfactory, a most finished rendering being given. The programme also included Bach's "Chaeonne" (first movement), "Concerto" Tschaikowsky, (a) Aye Maria, Schubert-Wil-helmj; (b), "The Bee," Schubert; (c) "Humoreske," Dvorak; (d) "Moment Musical,' , Schubert; (c) 'Ttfoto Perpetuo," Paganini, all of which were played in Miss Hall's incomparable manner. Misa Lonie Basche did splendid work, both as accompanist and solo pianiste, her ftne performance of Liszt's "Rhapsodic No. 12" quite charming the audience. Miss Basche also contributed- (a) "Etude E Major," Chopin; (b) "Si Oiseau rEtais," Henselt; (c) "Etude C Minor," Chopin, and as an encore, "Valse G Slat," Chopin. OPERA HOUSE. The juggling acts by Walker and Hughes, and the sparkling serio by Miss Beattie Mac(lonald, were especially well received. Miss Flo. Weston, Warne and Octavia, Keldie and Davis, and A. L. Cropp were all warmly applauded. Mr. P. Dentoo was moat successful in bis illustrated soDgs.
