LABOURERS' AWARD.

The week's work is not to exceed 48 hours, and shall be fixed by each employer to suit his particular business. In tunnel work the hours must not exceed eight per shift, and six hours will constitute a day's work when the men are working in wet places or foul air. The minimum rates of wages for tunnel and timber men is 10/ per shift, and for all other workers employed underground 9/. Quarrymen are to be paid 9/. Labourers not specified, if employed continuously for one week or more, are to receive 8/ a day; and for a lesf period 1/1J an hour. The award, which is not to affect contracts made before the hearing of the dispute, is to come into force on Sept. next and expire on Sept. 1, 1909.
