OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The OJ-iaemuri County Cwmcii met yesterday. '

Tenders were accepted as follows- Clearing and improving hill track to Willows Camp, L. Anderson £3.1; formation Cad-inan-street, Waikino, J. Bramble £1S lily supply and delivery of 600 cubic yards of spaals on Puke-road, Paeroa, p. Treanor £10 5/; supply and delivery of 500 yds spauls on Komata Creek-road, J. Phillips £37 10/; supply and delivery of 500 cubic yards spauls on main road between Karangahake and six-mile post, A. E. Wight £135; supply and delivery of 300 cubic yards spauls on Cornes'-road Karangahake, A. E. Wight £71 5/; lowering and widening drain below railway, Kangioraroad. W. Thompson £97; laying 1300 ft of 4ln water mains at Waikino, C. R Taylor £34 10/; supply of hay for abattoirs for 12 months, Jl. Coonau £5 9/ per ton. The Council resolved to terminate contracts that had not been completed to time, if not proceeded with satisfactorily within 1-1 days.

The engineer's estimate for a water supply for Waikino was £3550. The Counel. decided to forward plans and specifications of the work to the Government for approval.

The engineer the Council to defer the widening of the Karangahake bridge until Christmas, as If the work was undertaken now the Talisman mine would. have to close, owing to it being unable to get coal across the river. The recommendation of the engineer was adopted.

The Government Insurance Department and the New Zealand Insurance Company applied for the Council's accident risk for the ensuing year, the rates quoted being similar, namely, 3/ per cent for clerical ctuff, and 25/ per cent for other employees. It was decided to Insure in the New Zealand Insurance Company. ,

The secretary of the Auckland Fire Underwriters' Association wrote stating tnat if the Are brigade gear at Karangahake was not improved, the insurance rates would have to be revised. It was decided to ascertain what would be the cost of the extra hose required for the Karangahake Fire brigade. It was derided to repair tne traffic bridge on the old Taurangra-road, so as to make it safe for traffic, and to fence the approaches to tun Mangalti bridge.

The report of the Financial Committee shewed the overdraft to be £6000 11/0; receipts last month, £1498 0/1, and accounts amounting to £1445 17/5 were passed for payment- The Council decided to raise.an additional loan of £360 for works in the Waitoa special rating district, the necessary consent having been signed by the ratepayers.
