The Bible class conducted by Mr. Monro was in a. flourishing condition, the roll numbering 60 ™ w ep °« refel ? e<l &> the honour conferred on Mr. Monro in being elected moderator of the General Assembly. The report of the committee stated that the finances were In an extremely satisfactory condition, there being no debt on the church buildings with the exception of a small sum onthe gymnasium, which the T.M.B Cl*-. horxJi to clear off during the ensuing yeH The statement of accounts disclosed accredit balance. A new organist (Mr. R. j Morris) and a new choirmaster (Mr. J. w Byan) had been appointed. The thanks "of the whf 'I B *? 011 ere due t0 Mr- McDongal, who had acted as organist during the vacancy The balance-sheet showed that the ordinary Income had been £610 1/3 and tne expenditure £606. An outline of the balance-sheets of the various organisations was also read, all showing credit balances. The total income of the church had been £838 19/7. The congregation had contributed £95 3/1 for missions The Sabbath-school report showed that the roll now numbered 130, with a staff of 18 teachers and officers. The V M.B Class report showed the average atendanee to be 2L Mention was made of the valuable assistance afforded by Mr. H Davies (student), in his work In connection with the Somervell Church.
The report of the senior T.WJ3 Class showed that the roll number was 22, with an average attendance of 16. Beferenee was made to Mrs. Hood's splendid work as leader of this class. The report of the junior class stated that the average attendance had been 15, Mrs. Monro havtne been very successful as leader.
The Band of Hope report showed that 17 new members Bid joined during the year. The report of St. Luke's branch of the P.W.M. Union showed that the membership was now 30, and £32 4/ had been contributed to missions. The Maori Birthday League was shown to have a nipmbershln of 60. *
The report of the Ladies' Guild stated that the number of members was very satisfactory, and large contributions had been made to the various funds.
The report of the Somervell Memorial Church stated the attendance at worship had been well sustained, and the thanks of the congregation were due to the preachers who had so willingly conducted the services. Special reference was made to the work of Mr. Davies !n this capacity. The congregation desired to thank Mr. Percy Lee ior his gratuitous and valuable services as organist The finance of the church had Been very satisfactory, the Income being £11S 12/9, and the expenditure £86 15/6. Although a small debit balance still existed. It was expected that the church would very soon pay off its Indebtedness, leaving only the organ debt and interest thereupon to be met. The report of the Sabbath-school disclosed that, under Mr. Mains' leadership, the attendance had been gradually increasing. The income was £6 15/, and the expenditure 13/. The gross Income of St. Luke's and the Somervell Church had been £964 8/2*.
Messrs. Spence, Shirriffs, Forster, and Bowell were added to the Church Committee.
At the close of the meeting a short musical programme was provided by Misses Rhodes, Stanton, and N. Berry, and Messrs. Byan and Stanton.
