FATAL ACCIDENT AT KIRIPAKA.
COAL BONER KILLED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WHANGAREI, this day.
In the Kiripaka coal mine on Saturday afternoon a line of skips by some unexplained means were detached from the wire cable, dashed down the incline, and crashed into William Bentall, a young unmarried man, who was working at the bottom of the incline, overwhelming him in the wreckage.
Bentall was unconscious when extricated. His head was fearfully cut about, one wrist was broken, and he was apparently injured internally. After surgical attendance he was brought into Whangarei in the evening, but he died before arriving at the hospital. An inquest takes place to-day.
