CROWN LANDS BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Auckland Crown Lands Board was held this morning. There were present: Messrs. J. Mackenzie Armstrong, and the Hon. W. W. McCardie.

Bangers' Reports lor June.—Ranger Steedrnan reported laving visited 16 holdings in the Otau and Hunua parishes, containing an area of 6440 acres. Improvements required £2475, effected £2466. There were in all nine defaulters. He had also visited IS miscellaneous holdings. Ranger Kensington reported that he had inspected 14 holdings in the parish of Rangitaiki, containing an area of lO.aut) acres.. Improvements required £4538, effected £2957. There were in ail 11 defaulters. Hanger Shannon reported having visited four holdings in the Whangape and Mangamuka .survey districts, containing an area of 618 acres. Improvements required £3S, effected £480. Tnere was only one defaulter. He had also made 12 miscellaneous nispectioncs. Ranger. J or-' dan's report stated that lie had inspected. 29 holdings in the Maurigamangero, Otanake, and Pironjria survey districts, containing an area of 14,604 acres. Improvements--required £7290. effected £14,495. There were in all 15 defaulters. He had also inspected eight other holdings. Kanger McKay reported having inspected 28 holdings in Mangamuka and iiaunsarn survey districts, cod mining 0427 acres. Improvements required £5760, effected £11,823. There were in all four defaulters.- He had also made 12 otlier inspections: .-..-< ' Opotitl Lands.—lt ■ was aeeided to for-; ward a recommendation to the Minister that the survey deposits on lancjs beremitted, and that applicants successful in ballot be required to deposit only toe first half year's rent and lease fee, or one-fifth deposit (if for cash), as the case might be.
