The crowd becoming incensed at Lord's owing to no-play in the match, Middlesex versus Lancashire, the postponement being due to the wetness of the ground, after hooting in front of the pavilion and demanding their money bade, invaded the wicket and damaged it so seriously that MacLaren, the Lancashire skipper, refused to continue the match, which was accordingly abandoned.
