Inebriate.—Margaret Williams, up foT the fourth time within six months, was sent to gaol for three months. Elizabeth Bayliss, a second offender, was discharged and recommended to the Cogtley Home.

Unable to Resist Temptation.—A young man named Percy Ashton Carter, charged with the tbeit of a sovereign from the office of Mr. J. Pullen, solicitor, pleaded that he only intended to barrow it in order to cable to his father for supplies. It appeared that the sovereign was lying on a desk in the office when Carter entered, and the temptation to annex it was too great to resist. He went away with it and drowned yesterday's regrets and to-morrow's fears in the cheering bowl, the cable also being forgotten. Hi 3 past record not being particularly immaculate, he was sent to gaol with hard labour for one month.

Remanded to Hamilton.— Vernon Whitaker, charged -with having stolen £8 10/6 in money from the Hamilton Borough Council, was remanded to answer the charge at that town next Monday. Bail was allowed in two sureties of £50 each.

Alleged Forgery. —Alfred Henderson, credited with several aliases, was remanded until Friday, on a charge of having forged a cheque for £7 10/ on the National Bank of New Zealand.

Prohibition.—A prohibition order was granted against Walter Kisby for twelve months.

Maintenance. —William Thompson, for disobeying an order of the Court to pay 7/6 a week towards the support of his illegitimate child, was convicted and fined £2. An order was made against Sydney Tborne for the payment of 5/ per week towards the support of his mother.

The Sordid Side.—Annie White applied for separation from her husßand, William White, on the grounds of cruelty, the alleged cruelty including blows, violent language, throwing food out of the window, tearing clothing, and other conjugal methods of showing displeasure. Defendant denied the acts alleged, in his turn accusing complainant of remissness in the conduct of the family menage. The Magistrate adjourned the ease for a month to give reconciliation a chance.
