In his weekly report, the manager states that the rise lias been advanced loft, making tie total height 175 ft. A cuddy has been driven 10ft into the ladder-way end of the rise, a≤ a retreat ior the men during blasting operations. The reef in the back of the rise is now opening out again, and the ore continues to be of a good payable quality. A large inflow ol water was met with on Tuesday, issuing from the back of the rise. Tais will retard progress somewhat, as the contractors are" now working three six-hour shifts. There are now signs of this large inflow slackening off, and it is not considered it will last'for any length of time. Th? crosscut eastward on Seaver's leader has been extended loft, making a total of 71ft. The main low level crosscut has been advanced 10ft, making a total of 2C3ft. The country driven through has ben of a very tight nature.
MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Victoria,—The Mariner's reef at No. 2 level has been disturbed by a break, bat is now making again, and should improve in the class of country now being penetrated. A distance of 6ft has been driven on the hangingwall lead at No. 1 level, so far with encouraging results. Strong colours of gold have been seen in the lead, which averages about three inches.
New Occidental. —A length of about 6ft has been driven along the line of reef. As numerous fresh veins are coming in and joining the others, the reef promises to be a good size by the time the break is reached. From the appearance of the reef the break seems to be no great distance away. The seams are all well mineralised.
