The annual meeting of the Mauku Branch of the Waiuku Railway League was held in the Patumahoe Hall on Saturday evening. There was a very large attendance, and Mr. H. E. R. Wily occupied the chair. The report of the year's work and the balance-sheet •were adopted as satisfactory. The election of officers for the ensuing year was as follows:—'President, Mr. A- B. Barter; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Howard and J. Henry; secretary and. treasurer, Mr. F. E. Simpson (re-elected); auditor, Mr. H. E. R. Wily; .committee, Messrs. Cuff, Schlaepfer, Wily, Cotter, Kemp, Muir and Pleydell. Arrangements were made for a vigorous campaign, and the Branch intends to take every opportunity of impressing upon the Governjinent the advisability of constructing a ■ rail-way from Waiuku "through Mauku and Patumahoe to connect with the Main line. Socials will be heid at frequent intervals (the first on July 25th), the intention being to keep the Branch in a vigorous and flourishing condrtiaa. — Own correspondent.
