BROUGHT BACK FROM HONOLULU In the Police Court- this morning, be. fore Ml C.'C. Kettle, SJL. a young rnaa named Kobert Gibbs, alias an ex-botelkeeper from Neavesnll<% near Thames, was charged on three m» tformations that on March 23rd he ob. tamed sums of £12, £8. and £5 froaj Alexandef Johnston.. Timothy O'Coniun! and Michael Walsh respectively 635 means of valueless cheques. Three a> iternative informations charging Gibba with the theft of these sums were I>a4 in addition. It will be remembered thai Detective Miller left Auckland scmfl time 3go for Honolulu in order to bring Gibbs back to Xew Zealand. Chief-Detective Marsack applied i° remand for eight days as the had been brought over from HonoluM by the steamer this morning. The accused asked for bail. Chief-Detective Marsack ajad iSX Singer asked that bail be as "the accused was practically a fugitive when arrested. His Worship granted the remand, and i admitted Gibbs to bail in two suretJßs iof £75 on each charge.
