BOARD OF COMMERCE.
NO POWER TO DEAL WITH THE TARIFF. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. In the course of an interview tonight, the Hon. J. A. Millar was asked, in°re-fprence to his proposal to establish a, Board of Commerce., whether such a scheme -would not cause perpetual tariff disturbances. The Board of Commerce, he replied, would have no power to deal with the tariff. It was only a question of regulating the price of commodities. Regulations would be made on evidence adduced as to what was a fair return on the capital invested. "It is . done now with regard to wages, so why not in respect to the commodities of life!" he asked.
