THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.

(By Teieprapn^ —Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

Owing to increase of work in the Patent Office, it has boon decided to separate the offices of Under Secretary of Justice and Registrar of Patents, hitherto held conjointly by Mr. F. Waldegrave. This arrangement is the outcome of a request by Mr. Waldegrave to be relieved of the duties of Registrar of Patents consequent upon pressure of work in the Justice Department and Cook Islands administration. Mr. J. C. Lewis, present deputy registrar, has been promoted to the position of Registrar of Patents.
