PETROLEUM AT GISBORNE.
GOVERNMENT GEOLOGIST'S REPORT. (By TeJegraph.—Press Association-) GISBORNE, this day. Dr. Bell, Government Geologist, aftci a general examination of this district says excellent indications of high qualitj oil are to be found, but before lie coulc definitely advise as to the actual locality at •wliicli boring operations should lx commenced, be would require a deta.ilec survey of the districts within a radius of twenty miles of where indication; exist. Mr. Bell thinks it is for the waul of such a survey that oil-boring has been unsuccessful in the past. Well; ! appear to have been put down in a hap hazard way.
