A LANGUAGE CASE. "270T A PCTBLIC PLACE." CBy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.! CAMBRIDGE, this day. In the Magistrate's Court this morning.. Mr. Northcroft, S.M., gave his decision in a case in which the Mayor of Cambridge (Mr. Buckiand) was charg d with using abusive language to Councillor Clark aicer a council meeting helJ in a public place within the hearing of passers-by. The magistrate said the language was used in the passage at iha entrance to the council chamber, according to the evidence; and. as the meeting had closed, he did not think that it was used in a public place. It had not twea proved that the language was used within i the hearing of passers-by, so the case i would be dismissed. But., as the language I used was not such as should have bee a, i each party would pay his own costs.
