CHRISTCHUROH, Thursday

The Exhibition Executive to-night passed a resolution recommending that the Government should permit the sale of liquor in the Exhibition restaurant with meals only. A resolution was also carried most heartily congratulating the Minister in charge on the appointments of Messrs. Booth and Recce as Executive Commissioners, and stating that their high standing and business ability were a warranty that these appointments .would add greatly to the success of the Exhibition as a whole. i — HOTEL CHARGES. ' CHRISTCHITEGH, Thursday. ' A deputation from the Licensed Victuallers' Association waited on the Exhibition Executive to-day, to refute cerfein statements made iv Wellington as to contemplated charges of hotelkeepers taring the Exhibition. An assurance was given by the deputation that the •charge would not be excessive. DAIRY EXHIBIT. tHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The Hon. R. McNab, Minister for Agriculture, stated to-day that he had formulated a new scheme for the Government's dairy exhibit at the Exhibition, details of which would be laid before the Cabinet. ■SCHOOL CADET CAMP. DUNEDIN, Thursday. At a meeting of the School Committees' Association the matter of 50.h0.0l cadets attending the camp at Christchurch during the Exhibition was discussed. Exception ■was taken to Col. ■Loveday'p circular being sent to the headmasters of the schools instead of to the school committees, and the association expressed strong disapproval of Col. Loveday J s proposed camp. PREVENTION OF FIRE. Any fears which the public may have had with regard to insufficient fire protection may now be set at rest, as the Commissioners have decided to place 50 Underwriters' fire-extinguishers throughout the main building, as well as having .hydrants laid on everywhere.
