To-night at the Royal Albert Hall a complimentary benefit concert is being tendered to "8i11y , , , Murphy, ex-champion feather-weight boxer of the world, by P. Quinlan'a Concert Co. and the Auckland Amateur Boxing Club. During his career Murphy fought IGO fights, and in his prime was only beaten on three occasions; first by "Barney" Donovan, of Auckland, secondly and thirdly by Burge -and Griffo, of Australia, Murphy has always been noted for clean sport, and a : large attendance is confidently expected. Three vessels which arrived at Sydr.ey from New Zealand on the Bth inst., reported long passages owing to heavy weather. The barquentine Kate Tathain was 30 days on the passage from Napier, and the barquentine Pendle Hill 26 days from Mercury Bay. The barque Constance Craig did better work, being 20 days from Kaipara. All three vessels report trying passages, nothing but a succession of violent west and southwest gales, fierce squalls, and high seas being encountered. Though each vessel was assailed by heavy seas, no damage resulted. The Railway Department are at present engaged in renovating and raising the Mount Roskill-road bridge, and at the same tirae effecting minor improvements to bring it into line with the necessary standard, 9ihe bridge has previously been some six inches below the standard level from the rails, and this defect is new being retaedled,
