WORLD'S SCULLING MATCH.

Os <fee ParramatUr. To-da-f. (By OtbYe.—Press Jassoaman Copyright-) SYDNEY, July 27. James Stannary, the champion, is slightly the better favourite for the sculling match between him and George Towns on the Paxramatta River to-mor-row (Saturday) for the championship of the -world. Is the second occasion on which Towns and Stannary have met, the latter having defeated Towns on the last occasion. Jhn Stonmwy, the holder of the title, in his last contest upset all reflated ideas as to what a man who has been out of the game, and who had so increased in poundage, can Uo. There is not the stfghtcst doubt Stan bury did something marvellous. Close on lSst In weight when he started to train, and nine years out ot a boat, he reduces himself to 12st 51b, Then he rows a race against -an accomplished sculler and wins. This time, however, by dint of hard work 'he has not allowed his weight to exceed 13Et, so that to get to Ms rowing weight is only a matter of pounds Instead of stones.. He has improved to a great extent in his styiJe of rowing. His strokes are dean, with plenty of dash and vigonr, and it Is said that no sculler In Australia can with one stroke place a boat co great a distance as he can. Towns has altered his style of rowing since the last race, and wiule bio stroke Is not so attractive he may get a greater acioant of .pace. He pulls a quicker but mnch shorter stroke. It looks choppy, and Ms rowing is not quite co clean as when he rowed Stanbnry previously. He has greatly Improved in weight, and will tow pounds heavier this tfme than last Everything has been done by him to Improve on his last venture.
