■ ■ (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

HAMILTON, this day. At a meeting of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce it was decided to apply to the Telegraph Department to have telephonic communcation established between Auckland and Hamilton, and to apply to the Postal Department to make up a mail for Auckland at 3.45 p.m. train, instead of 2 o'clock, to allow of lettei-3 being received here and answered on the same day. The chamber decided to impress upon the Waikato A. and P. Association the necessity for holding a winter show on the same lines as that held at Palmerston North. It was pointed out that Auckland was moving in the matter, but, as Hamilton was first in the field, and as the chamber considered this the proper place, as the centre of a large dairying district, it was resolved to make every effort to further the project. It was decided to endeavour to get the Government to purchase for the borough the bush portion of the Claudelands show grounds; also to communicati with 1 the Minister for Public Health, asking" that provision should be made for the appointment of a qualified man to deal with health matters and outbreaks of disease. The action, or rathej inaction, of the present health officers came in for severe criticism. Waipu County Council to-day decided to take a poll in various ridings on the question of raising loans for necessary works, aggregating £10,000. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
