BIG ZULU BATTLE.
547 NATIVES KILLED. NO BRITISH CASUALTIES. PIETERMARITZBURG, July 9. Brigadier-General Mackenzie and Colonels Leuchars and Wools-Sampson, with a force of 2000 men, including native levies, completely surrounded a rebel impi on Saturday in a gorge in Umvoti Valley. .
A terrific fire was poured in upon the Zulus, and few of them escaped.
Their killed numbered 547, and the colonial troops had no casualties.
