The Northern Association are holding this carnival for the purpose of raising funds and selecting the best representatives for the forthcoming New Zealand championships. The committee ' intend straining every effort to send a man representing them in each class, and it is hoped that both contestants and enthusiasts of the sport will ably assist the executive to carry out their undertaking, and have Auckland represented at the big carnival to be held in Wellington in Au«->ist next. It is anticipated that the gathering in Wellington will be tho biggest yet held in the colony, as representatives from all parts), even Australia, will be present. "Mr. Keeran therefore, on behalf of the Northern Association, makes a strong appeal to all true sports for their hearty co-opera-tion in the movement to have Auckland worthily represented to secure tbe coveted honours. The material is in Auckland, and competent judges state that there are several lads who-could hold their own with anything that tbe colony can produce. Tbe dates on which the Auckland championships will be beld will be about the 27th to the 31st July. The New Zealand Championships are about the middle of August. This will allow the Auckland boys a week in Wellington, which will be most suitable, and enable them to get well again. The Wellington Boxing Association are considering the advisability of building their own sports club rooms, and erecting a ring therein. Tbe same idea is now receiving the consideration of the committee of the Northern Boxing Association here.
