POLICE COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before Mr. W. G. Riddefl, &M.)

The Inebriates.—Thomas James Sheldon, having been previously convicted within six months, was fined £1 with coats. Margaret Williams had, been convicted yesterday morning, but came up again, and was fined 10/ with costs. One first offender forfeited >»fq bail, and three others were fined 5/ each with, costs. One of the latter, Thomas W. Harvey, was prohibited by consent.

A Dangerous Practice.—Two Iris sailors, H. Christian and GJ Smith, •pleaded guilty to having boarded & train while in motion at Ellerslie oa June 2nd. It was stated by the police that the men committed the offence though the railway officials warned them. They were fined 10/ each with TJ costs.

Committed for Sentence.—Leslie "Vickers, a youth, pleaded guilty to having stolen a horse at Kamo on" May 10th. Chief-Detective Marsaek stated that the owner of the horses, a Whangarei farmer named Daniel McKenzie, left them in a paddock at Kamo on May 7th, and missed them two days later. One of the horses was subsequently found in the roadway, and the other was. recovered by the police. The accused had sold it through Messrs. Buckland and Sons, auctioneers, for £16 10/, telling them that he brought it from Pulcekohe to sell. Detective Hollis waa called, and said the accused admitted having stolen the horse at Kamo-, riding it to Auckland, and selling it at the auction. The accused was committed for sentence at the .Supreme Court,
