THE GOLDFIELDS.

MIKE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Kuranni.—The connections . between the top workings and the battery are complete, and quartz is being trucked to the battery, so that it will bo .ready for treatment as soon as tliu water .po,wor is connected with the mill. The drive on the shaft reef at the top intermediate level is now in sSft north of the crosscut, and at this distance we holed through to the drive on No. 1 reef.. The face of the reef is about 25ft further ahead. So far the shaft reef has not been touched with the drive on No. 1 reef. At present they are too far apart to be taken in the one drive. The hangingwall portion of the shaft reef maintains its width of about 12in, and is still composed of kindly looking brown quartz, in which a little gold is seen occasionally. The footwall branch Is now split up Into small stringers. The drive on the mineral reef at the Intermediate level below No. 1 has been extended 9ft. making 36ft north of the puss. A break has disturbed the reef a good deal, but there is some mineralised quartz coming in at the back of the break, which the manager thinks will 'prove to be the mineral reef forming again. New Monowai.— The low level has been extended 29ft, making 971 ft from the crosscut. The country in the face at present is of a splendid class. The quartz has gone off a bit into the hangingwall, but we are keeping the drive straight with the survey lines.

New Dart>-The country in the face is rather stiff, of a blue nature, and faced with quartz seams. We are apparently now in the solid country. Golden Belt.—The leading stopes at No. 2 level are now 200 ft apart, and good ore is coming to hand from both faces. The Second'stope going south looks well and the reef is maintaining its size and value. Jhe drive north on the reef at No 3 level Is now in 9(>ft. The reef Is a flue large body of ore, and there is a little more mineral in the quartz. The mill has lost five shifts owing to an accident to the aerial tram, but repairs have practically been completed, and the battery will resume on Friday morning. Tip to the time of the mishap tlie ore continued to shape well. Waiotahi.—The manager reports, under date June 18th:—No. 6 level: Driving east on the main reef is still in progress, and the fnoe is now in a distance of 184 ft from the crosscut. The reef is still disturbed by the slide formation following along its footwall, and at the present time there is very little quartz in the face. Driving west has also been continued, and a distance of Vllit driven from the crosscut. Although there is a little more quartz showing in the face, the reef is still of a niullocky character. The winze on the footwall dropper is now down a depth of 6ft. and what quartz lias been broken shows some fair mineral indications. On tlie Cure roof, the lending stope lias beeu carried west of the crosscut for 30ft. The quartz is about 4ft in thickness, dabs and colours of gold have been seen in the quartz broken, and Slhs picked stone selected. No. 5 level: Driving ea-;t on th<=main reef has been continued, and on Saturday a faw eolojurs of gold were seen in the hangingwall portion, The reef is still about 23ft in width. Going west of the crosscut nothing has been done during the week, the men being engaged in other work. The crosscut towards the Mary Ann shaft is in a distance of 124 ft, and another 3ft will bring us to the side of where the uew chamber will be at this level. The first and t--ei_-onrl stopes above this level are In progress, and from the first stope a good supply of crushing dirt is coming to hand. This stope has been carried 70ft oast of No. .1 winze. In the second stope. although we are past the point where incited stone is usually obtained,-, this has boon compensated for to v great extent hv the good quality of quartz (hat has com'o to hand during the week from this, and the No. 4 level slopes. No. 4 level: The drive east on the main reef is in a distance of 154 ft from No. 1 winze, the reef in the face being 3ft in width, and although tho quartz has a kindly appearance, no gold has been seen. In the stopes above this level a large quantity of payable quj'rtz is coming to hand, while from the sixth slope west of No. 1 winze the hanging wall portion has yielded rich ore. dabs and colours of gold being frequently seen. The rise west of the No. 2 winze has holed through to No. 3 level. This will be a great advantage in filling in the stopes. A crosscut into the hangingwall 50ft east of No. 2 wiuzo is being put in for the purpose of starting another winze through to No 5 level for filling in purposes. It is necessary to get well into the hanging wall before starting this work, otherwise the winze wond.be too flat to got filling down. It is also serving as. a 'Prospecting drive, some Small stringers of quartz passed through having shown colours of gold. This drive Is now In 23ft. In the Alary Ann shaft fair progress is, being made in sinking which is now down a depth \jE 42ft below No 4 level.
