SUICIDE.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MASTERTOX. Sunday. An old ?ettlpr of Opaki. named Geom-p Welch, committed suicide in a determined manner at his farm, a few miles from Masterton, on Saturday morning. He set fire, to a stack of wood on his property, laid down on the wood, and shot himself. • Wlien found by his son the body was much charred. Deceased had been in a depressed condition since his wife died, fourteen years ago. Deceased was a well-known cricketer, footballer, and quoit player. He was about the best all-round cricketer in the Wellington province in his young days. An inquest Mas held to-day, and a'verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned.
