They have informed the President of th? Board of Education (Mr. BirfeUj that they vrili resist an extension of the concessions under the four-fifths clause /enabling parents, to obtain special as distiiiguished from general religious instruction), either in the ■ direction : o£ making the action of the local authorities obligatory or giving ihe denominations the right to appoint teachers.
