THE RAKAIA. The s.s. Rakaia arrived from London yesterday afternoon. The second officer reports: —The Rakaia left London at 5 a.m. on March 2nd, and had a very fair run down the Channel, but very rough weather was met with in the Bay of Biscay. The south-east 'trades proved very light, and the steamer signalled off the Cape of Good Hope on March 26th. Adverse winds were then met with for four days, followed by strong westerly winds and high seas. In the Tasman Sea a fierce northerly gale and rough sea were encountered, lasting until within two days of the New Zealand coast, when a fresh west-south-west wind set in and continued until passing Cape Maria Van Diemen at 8 p.m. on Saturday; thence strong southerly winds to arrival. The Rakaia leaves for the South on completion of her discharge. THE WESTRALIA. The s.s. Westralia, which Is relieving the Victoria for one trip, arrived from Sydney at 3.30 a.m. to-day. She left Sydney at 4.15 p.m. last Wednesday, and experienced strong S.W. winds with fairly heavy seas and moderately fine weather to the "North Cape, which was passed yesterday morning; thence hard southerly breeze and squally weather to arrival. On Friday last a heavy sea cracked a couple of port-holes. The Westralia leaves for Dunedin, via .ports, to-morrow afternoon. THE TARAWERA IN ROUGH WEATHER. Gisborne, April 23.—The s-s. Tarawera arrived from Auckland at S o'clock last evening after a very rough trip, owing to a tremendous sea running, which made it impossible to work. The vessel was kept at sea till this morning. The Inward passengers were landed at 9 o'clock this morning, and the steamer resumed her voyage to Napier at 10.30. The barquentine Pendle Hill arrived from Newcastle yesterday afternoon. The barque Hazel Craig, bound from Newcastle to Auckland, was anchored off Mahurangi yesterday. She will probably be towed up to the harbour to-day. The s.s. Indradeyi, of the Tysor line, 'eft Sydney on. Saturday last lor Auckland, iv continuation of her voyage from London. She is due here next Thursday.
