(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
. .TVELLDfGTON, this day. Bntter faking is facilitated by the practices of some New Zealand dairymen, according'to this colony's Produce. Commissioner in London (Mr H, C.Canjero.n}... He states in. a.communication to Mr Einaella; Dairy Comrnis-: ! sioner: "There appears to be a. lack of support given by the butter producers in New Zealand to the efforts that are being made here on their behalf.; This jfear there has been.(as last) a very cpnsiderabie supply of fresh butter madeby them, and shipped from the colony. The supply- of this fresh butter greatlyhelps the perpetration of the frauds of which the New Zealand producers corn--plain. It is readily purchased by "fakers" for the purposes of manipulation andadulteKilipn. It seems surprising that the butter makers in the colony, who ask for assistance in 'improving the market, for. the sale of tbeir butter, .should at the same time be doing what is necessary -to' encourage the continuance of-, those frauds, and so frustrate oiir efforts for tneir welfare,. ■ and Kinder ' the, im-' ■proveinent^they demand.": . .-,..; ' .-,
