CLUB CHARTERS.
(By -Telegraph.—Special to "Star.-) CHBI&TGHURCH, Thursday. Colonel Pitt, before leaving for Wellington last evening, said that as to the granting of charters being regarded as a concession to "trade," he did not think that the "trade" cared much about it: if it did iot was opposed to club charters. "You may be sort," he added, "that the Government would be exceed- , ingly careful in Tegard to the granting !of any new cbab charters. It wfll not grant them unless thepe are special cir--1 rarmstances to justify eudi a course. It certainly will not be sufficient for a [number of people to band themselves together and say they would like to have a charier.
