IMPORTED PEDIGREE JERSEYS
- An arrival of interest to those engaged in the dairy industry was received by the mail steamer Sierra, namely, two young Jersey bulls and two heifers imported from" New York' Statel The four animals "were landed in fine condition, "and were sent down to the guaranSne station to-day. They : are all of solid colours, with black tongues- and ■switches. Mr E. Griffiths (of Bewley and Griffiths, New Plymouth) imported one. of the bulls and the two heifers
from the herd o?Mr White,, of New York State, one of the most prominent breeders of Jerseys in America. These animals were specially selected from the herd, which consists of over 250 registered Jerseys,, carefully bred for dairying purposes. The bullis reported to be from a cow which recorded 221b of butter per week. The young bull is from the herd of Mr Sweet, also of 2Sew York State, and is imported by Mr Watknt," of Puhearawe. TaxanakL The mother of fhi* bull is reported as having a-record of 151b I4ozof butter per week after her first calf.
