MINING SUMMARY.
The outlook for the. mining industry j still continues very promising, but of far greater importance is the steady increase in the output of bullion. The I Waihi Company this month eclipsed all previous records, the yield being £61,890 I for four weeks. Of special importance is the fact that a less quantity of ore was treated this time for a larger yield lof bullion, an evidence of improvement in value in the quartz put through the mills. The Waihi mine is also opening up well at the low level, which points to a considerable increase in the known ore reserves of this company. Shares adjvaneed during the past week or two, sales being made up to seven guineas. Steady work is being done in adjacent properties. At the Waihi Beach mine better assay results have been obtained from the large reef new being operated upon. The N.Z. Crown Mines return was a slightly better one this month, being £4321. The return from the Talisman Consolidated was £ 10,321 from 41.90 tons. Shares fell until sabes were made at 24/. The Komata Reefs return was the best this quarter, being nearly £3000... The same quantity of ore treated in January yielded £300 less, showing that the ore is imprpving in value. At Thames, the Waiotahi mine had the record return this month of £18.495, from 1174 tons of ore and 9icwt of picked stone. This brings up the output to £319,612 11/4, ; of which £121,000 has been paid in dividends to shareholders. This month the customary 5/ per share was paid, and as about scwt of picked stone has since been obtained, no doubt the monthly dividends will be continued, as reports from the mine are highly satisfactory. -Shares have now sold up to £6 18/6. This amounts to nearly £70 per original share,, which .less than two; years ago were selling at 9/ each. The New May Queen has had another satisfactory return of about £1550 from 259 tons of ore, but so far the Kiirantri-Caledoniari mine has not shown any important development. The Golden Belt Company, at Neavesville, will start its new battery within the next few days, and also the Sunbeam Company at Great Barrier Island. The return from the various mines for the past three' weeks again exceeds £100..000.
