A youth named Charles M. Spinley pleaded guilty before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M., in the Police-Court to-day to having forged his father's name to. four cheques, totalling £8. , James Spinley, the accused's father, said he was a shoe manufacturer of Sy-monds-street. ; Since his.. son had been in.custody.witness interviewed.him. The accused then told him he c-ommitted the. four offences, forging witness' name on each occasion. He had expressed sorsow, and explained that he cashed the cheques while he was drinking. None of the cheques were drawn on the Union Bank, where the witness* account Was. kepti The- cheques issued by the accused were for £2 10/ at Newmarket,: another for a similar amount' uttered. atPukekohera tbijrd for £1 10/ cashed in Hamilton! and the fourth, also for £1 10/, cashed in Franklin.'"
