SUNDAY SERVICES.
SALVATION AEMY SERVICES. A number of important officers' councils -were presided over on Saturday by Commissioner McKie, chief of the Australasian branch of the Salvation Army. The Newton Army Hall was cro-wded yesterday morning, as -was the Opera House in the afternoon and evening, when special revival services were held, at which the Commissioner and members of liia staff delivered addresses. Penitents were conspicuous at each service, land the proceedings generally were marked by great enthusiasm!. Commissioner McKie is just completing a month's tour of the colony, and speaks in hopeful terms of the progress and work of the Army throughout the colony. ST. AIZBAN'S ckuROH. * There was a very large congregation at St. Alban's Church, Moun* Roskillroad, on Sunday morning, when Bishop Neligan conducted a special service in connection with the dedication of a new altar and credence, which have been provided in connection with the recent extension of the church building. The altar is a handsome one with carved panels, the carving having been very nicely done by parishioners. At the service carved onertoTy plates presented by Mr H. A. Wood, were usedfor the ntst time. — MAYETELD. The anniversary services of the Mayfield Sunday-school were held yesterday afternoon and evening in tlhe publio schoolroom, decorated for the occasion with flowers and evergreens. The Rev. W. Gittos officiated at both the services, and delivered interesting addresses. The musical arrangements v?ere admirably carried out by Mr. A. "W. Messenger, who was assisted by a large orchestra, whilst special hymns selected from the "Choral Treasury" were" sung by the scholars. During the afternoon a quartette, entitled "God Bless Thee," was pleasingly rendered hy the Misses Geddes and Messrs. John Hall and Geddes, junr. The annual tea and concert takes place on Friday. FBANKLTN-EOAD. Anniversary services in connection with the Franklin-road Sunday-school were held on Sunday. The services were conducted in the morning by Rev. /T. Coats worth, in the afternoon by Rev. A. Macanlay Caldwell, and in the evening by Rev. G. Clement. The congregations were large at all the services. Solos were sung by the Misses Porteous and Morrison, and a quartette by Misses Porteous and Tyrrel. and Messrs. Oates and Webster. Mr. W. Dimery conducted, and an efficient orchestra assisted at each of the services. The celebrations will be continued with a soiree and public meeting on Tuesday evening.
