TURKEY AND SINAI.
REFUSAL TO WITHDRAW. BRITISH OFFICIAL STATEMENT. LONDON, March 23. It is reported from Constantinople tha* the Turkish Government refuses to withdraw its troops from Tabah, in the Sinai Peninsula. The reason given for the refusal is that Tabah is within Turkish territory. k "•Replying to a question in the House of Commons yesterday Sir Edward Grey said he believed there were three Turkish battalions at El Akabah, near Tabah." [Some weeks ago Great Britain protested to Turkey that her troops had occupied Tabah, on the Sinai Peninsula, and on Egyptian territory. A proposal was made for an Anglo-Turkish Commission, provided that Tabah were first evacuated. The British cruiser Diana prevented further Turkish depredations in the shape of an attempt to seize the island of Tarsan.]
