AN ACTOR DIVORCED.
THE DOMESTIC AFFAIRS O" "ROT" REDGRAVE. On Monday, February 6th, in the English courts. Mrs Elien Maude Redgrave, whose maiden name was Pratt, known on the stage as Judith Kearle, sought a dissolution of her marriage with Mr George L. Redgrave, an actor, known professionally as Roy Redgrave, on the grounds of cruelty and. misconduct. They were married in 1354. and there were three children.
While at the Britannia theatre, Hoxton, unpleasantness arose out of the attentions which certain ladies in the audience paid to the respondent. Petitioner also complained of having to walk home alone through such a rough neighbourhood. One night respondent assaulted her. He went to South Africa, and when he came home his wife found his manner towards her changed. Iv going over his luggage she found articles of ladies' clothing—stockings, ribbon, and bows, also bills for goods and hotel accommodation relating to a lady named Cook, known on the stage as Hetty Carlisle. Impressions on a blotting-pad showed he had been corresponding with this lady. When questioned respondent assaulted petitioner, and. subsequently Mrs Redgrave received the following letter from her husband:—"l have found a girl who suits mc better than you do, and If she will have mc I shall go to her." It was stated that Mr Redgrave was now in Australia.
Petitioner, who now resides with her parents at Exmouth. was granted a decree nisi, with costs, and custody; of the cxti dren of the ni__rrU_fe. . . _______.__._.
